Cookie Policy
This policy explains how L4G.online and related services use cookies and similar storage technologies. It should be read with our Privacy Policy. We operate from the United Kingdom and aim to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) alongside UK GDPR.
Operator: L4G.Online — support@l4g.online
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels and device identifiers used for authentication, preferences, analytics or advertising.
How we use categories of technologies
- Strictly necessary: required to deliver the site, maintain security or remember essential choices. These may not require consent under PECR in many cases.
- Preferences: remember settings you choose (where implemented).
- Analytics: Google Analytics (planned; inactive until a measurement ID is configured — then only if you opt in).
- Advertising / personalisation: used by ad partners to serve and measure ads (planned; only if you opt in and we enable ads).
Consent on the main website (l4g.online)
When you first visit l4g.online, a cookie banner explains how we use cookies. You can Accept all, Reject non-essential, or open Cookie settings to choose analytics and advertising separately.
Your choices are stored in your browser using local storage (key: l4g_cookie_consent_v1) so we can remember them on later visits. This is not a tracking cookie, but it is similar technology under PECR and UK GDPR.
You can reopen settings at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer, or by calling window.L4G.openCookieSettings() from the browser console if you use assistive tools or custom scripts.
Google Analytics is not active today because our site code has no GA4 measurement ID configured. If we add one, the gtag script will load only after you allow analytics in the banner or settings. Advertising tags (for example Google AdSense) will load only after you allow advertising and we enable ads in code. Google Search Console is an operator tool for search performance; it does not set cookies on visitors’ browsers when you browse l4g.online.
Before turning on AdSense in production, confirm you meet Google’s publisher consent and privacy messaging requirements (which may require a certified CMP in some regions). ICO guidance: storage and access technologies.
Custom consent tool — not a Google-certified CMP
The main website uses a first-party consent banner and settings modal implemented in assets/js/cookie-consent.js. It allows you to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or choose analytics and advertising separately. Choices are saved in local storage and can be changed via the footer Cookie settings link.

Verified technologies — main website (code review)
The table lists what we could verify from the static website files and typical browser behaviour. It is not a substitute for live testing on your production host.
| Name / resource | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
l4g_cookie_consent_v1 (local storage) |
L4G | Strictly necessary / preferences | Stores your cookie consent choices (analytics and advertising on or off). Written by assets/js/cookie-consent.js. |
Until you clear site data or change settings |
Google Analytics cookies (for example _ga, _ga_*) |
Analytics | Not set while GA is inactive. If we configure a GA4 measurement ID and you opt in, Google may set these to measure traffic. See Google’s cookie information. | Typical GA4 durations (confirm via live testing after GA is enabled) | |
Self-hosted web fonts (/assets/fonts/*.woff2) |
L4G (first party) | Strictly necessary (presentation) | Manrope and Space Grotesk font files served from l4g.online (SIL Open Font License). No Google Fonts request from the browser on the main site. | Browser cache; no consent cookie |
| Bootstrap & Bootstrap Icons (jsDelivr CDN) | jsDelivr | Delivery / functional | Delivers CSS, JS and icon font files from cdn.jsdelivr.net. jsDelivr may log technical data (such as IP address). We treat this as required to render the site; review with your adviser if stricter consent is needed. |
Provider-dependent; confirm with jsDelivr if needed |
assets/js/main.js handles navigation UI and the copyright year only; it does not set cookies or use local storage.
Self-hosting fonts removes third-party Google Font requests but does not remove jsDelivr connections or guarantee PECR compliance. External CDN use should be reviewed before enabling advertising or analytics.
Forum cookies (forum.l4g.online)
When you visit or sign in to our Discourse forum, Discourse and its hosting configuration may set cookies and similar technologies (for example to keep you signed in, protect against abuse or remember preferences). Those technologies are controlled by the forum application, not by the static main website code.
We have not listed specific Discourse cookie names or durations here because they depend on your live forum version, plugins and settings. Document them from the live site (browser developer tools or Discourse admin documentation). See our Forum Privacy Policy.
Planned Google advertising technologies
If Google AdSense or other Google advertising products are enabled on l4g.online in future, Google and third-party ad vendors may use cookies, web beacons or similar identifiers to serve ads, measure performance, combat fraud and (where permitted) personalise ads.
Disclosure: Third parties, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use similar technologies, when ad serving is active.
How Google uses partner site data: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
AdSense privacy messaging and CMP requirements must be configured in your Google account before tags go live. See AdSense privacy disclosures and consent management guidance.
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Methods vary by browser and version. Blocking all cookies may affect forum sign-in and site functionality. Browser controls alone may not replace consent requirements for non-essential advertising or analytics tags under UK/EU rules.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add services (analytics, advertising, embeds, forms) or when provider practices change. The “Last updated” date shows the latest revision.
